We had a fantastic day at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, as part of the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition. We learnt about Leonardo, his life, types of work and drawing styles.
Did you know…Leonardo was left handed and would write in mirror image to avoid smudging!
Portraits to internal organs it was amazing to see his actual work on display. We were showed around by Marie and got the task of drawing around our own hand then passing our work on for others to contribute, just as Leonardo would of done as his work took so long to complete and his apprentice would even help.
Then, we explored drawing using a variety of equipment, taxidermy, light box, skeletons of birds, horse and a crows wing.
After lunch we completed a museum trail over all 3 floors looking for clues and drawing some of the answers.
We had a lovely day out to put our artistic skills to good use.
Here are some of the photos.
