St John Boste School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Parents should be aware that the school regards the safeguarding of pupils as of paramount importance and will take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of its pupils. In cases where the school has reason to be concerned that a pupil may be subject to ill treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse, the staff have no alternative but to follow LSCB (The Local Safeguarding Children Board) procedures and inform Social Services of their concern.

Prevent and safeguarding against radicalisation training was undertaken by all staff and governors 1st February 2016 in line with KCSIE.
Operation Encompass enables key adults in schools, police and teams within Sunderland City Council to train and work together to help children feel safe, secure and receive the appropriate support.
