The Catholic Fund for Overseas Development (CAFOD) is a charity close to our hearts at St John Boste.
We collect small change on a weekly basis in each class; the change goes into to CAFOD collecting pots which are kept in each classroom. We also organise fundraising events to support CAFOD.
Our Mini Vinnies invited the school to wear bright clothing and a cake sale last week. We raised an AMAZING £346.50. Thank you very much for your contributions of cakes and continued support!
‘Wear bright for Bolivia’

2nd October – Brighten up the Harvest
Today is CAFOD Harvest Fast Day. To celebrate and raise funds we came dressed in bright clothes and as you can see below, the hall was a rainbow of colours. In total we raised £240.81 with everyone’s kind donations. This will go to CAFOD to help the El Salvador Project. This project is to support a peace-building project which gives children the right to play and be safe, something we take for granted. For more information click here
We will also be sending £240.81 to CAFOD to support the refugee crisis. Our children feel they need our help, as Pope Francis said they are men and women like us, our brothers seeking a better life, starving, persecuted, wounded, exploited, victims of war. They were looking for a better life.
Last year we Gave up our tuck shop for Lent, and encouraged the pupils to donate their pocket money to CAFOD instead.
The response from the pupils was fantastic and led to each class choosing and buying a World Aid Gift.
Year 4 share breakfast with the parish for CAFOD
In October, our Year 4 children joined the parishioners from St John Boste Church for a special class Mass about our families, and we were delighted to be invited to the CAFOD Big Share Breakfast which took place in the Dryburn Room afterwards.
The Children brought in some of their favourite breakfast treats, including fruit, cereal bars, yoghurts, breakfast biscuits and croissants, and shared their food with their friends and members of the parish, who had also donated some delicious food of their own!
The children had a great time, and it was a wonderful opportunity for us to stop and think about how important it is to share what we have, and think about those people around the world who don’t have enough, and the work that CAFOD does to help them.
