At St Johns we place great importance on the children learning how to help and support people who are less fortunate than ourselves, not only in our local community but also right across the world. We do so through Traidcraft.
One way in which we do this is through educating our pupils about Fairtrade, and supporting this cause with a weekly Fairtrade tuck shop. This is run by our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils every Friday break time. Children can bring in pocket money to spend on Fairtrade snacks which make them feel as though they are really doing something to help. The Year 5 and Year 6 pupils are in charge of the stock, float and counting the change every week.
